That's friction, not cutting.
β¦it cuts crooked

I need a bigger saw. Or a longer bar.

This is the best way to sharpen a chainsaw. Quick, easy, and efficient. What my dad would have given for a tool like this. I especially like the cordless.

Straight answers.
Will it fit my saw?
It goes by chain size, not brand, so it does not matter who made your saw. Match your chain size to a head:
- 1/4" and 3/8" Low Profile use the 5/32" (4.0 mm)
- .325" uses the 3/16" (4.8 mm)
- 3/8" and .404" use the 7/32" (5.5 mm)
The size is stamped on the bar, near where the chain goes into the saw. It is in your manual too.
I've got a file and it works fine. Why would I need this?
A file works. It always has. But it asks you to hold the same angle and the same depth on every tooth, kneeling in the cold at the end of the day. Get it wrong on half of them and the saw starts pulling to one side. The guide holds the angle for you, so it does not come down to your wrist.
Will I wreck the chain?
Good thing to worry about β that is what the guide is for. It locks at 25Β°, 30Β° or 35Β°, so you cannot slip off the angle. And you can turn the speed down so the teeth do not get too hot.
How long does the battery last?
About 20 minutes of steady use on a full charge. Cold weather and an older battery will bring that down.
